Introduction

Draft prompt templates help you automatically generate complete content drafts using AI. Instead of executing individual prompts manually, multiple AI instructions are combined sequentially to create structured content such as blog articles, whitepaper chapters, or expert contributions.

Note: This feature is only available to customers using the AI Assistant add-on.

Function Overview

Draft prompt templates are specialized prompts in contentbird designed to generate full text drafts. Unlike standard prompts, they consist of multiple instructions that are executed automatically in sequence.

These templates are not used in the regular prompt library but in the section:
Content AI → Content Ideas
There, they can be used to turn an idea directly into a complete content draft.

The key difference from standard prompts is that a draft prompt template consists of multiple coordinated steps.

Standard Prompt Templates

  • One prompt per request

  • Used in the AI Assistant (chat) or directly in the editor

  • Suitable for smaller tasks, such as headlines or outlines

Draft Prompt Templates

  • Multiple prompts executed automatically in sequence

  • Used in the Content Ideas section

  • Designed to create full content pieces such as articles, whitepapers, or long-form content

Usage and Setup

Path: Settings → System → AI Assistant → Draft Prompt Templates

How a draft prompt template works

A draft prompt template consists of multiple consecutive instructions to the AI. A typical template may include steps such as:

  • Defining the structure (e.g., layout or number of sections)

  • Generating the introduction

  • Writing the main body

  • Creating the conclusion

Each prompt is executed automatically in sequence. The AI processes each section individually and then combines the results into a complete text, which is displayed in the editor.

Create your own draft prompt templates

You can also create your own templates and tailor them to your content strategy.

Go to:
Settings → System → Draft Prompt Templates

Then:

  1. Create an initial prompt that defines the structure of the text

  2. Add additional prompts for sections such as introduction, body, or conclusion

  3. Save the template

  4. Use the template in the Content Ideas section to generate a full content draft

Typical use cases

Draft prompt templates are especially useful for structured and long-form content, such as:

  • Whitepapers with a clear chapter structure

  • Industry insights for thought leadership

  • Product comparisons or how-to guides

  • B2B and B2C content with recurring formats

You will also find predefined examples within the draft prompt templates section. A commonly used template is “Industry Insight Structure,” which is particularly suited for in-depth, expert-level content.

Conclusion

With draft prompt templates, you can automatically create complete and structured content in contentbird. By combining multiple coordinated prompts, the resulting texts are more consistent and comprehensive than typical AI outputs. This approach is especially effective for producing high-quality long-form content efficiently.
