What does MCP stand for?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol – an open standard through which an AI system can connect to external tools and data sources.
What does an MCP server actually do?
It gives an AI access to data or functions from an external tool (e.g. keywords from an SEO tool, entries from a knowledge base, status from a project management tool). Through it, the AI can read (retrieve information) and, in some cases, also write (trigger actions), depending on what the respective connector allows.
Where do I connect an MCP server in contentbird?
Via the MCP Connector Marketplace, or manually via "Add MCP Connector" (name, server URL, authentication, permitted tools, content type assignment).
Do I have to tell the AI every time which data it should use?
No – once connected, the AI can automatically access the connector's authorized data for matching requests.
What is a prompt, and why does AI matter?
What is a prompt?
A prompt is the instruction or question you give the AI – e.g. "Write a product description for Chair X, structured into introduction, features, conclusion." The more specific the prompt (or the briefing it draws on), the more precise the output. Rule of thumb: "Generic in, generic out."
Do I need to be good at prompting as a user?
Normal, complete sentences are enough – bullet points are harder for the AI to interpret. It's worth explicitly asking the AI to follow up if anything is unclear.
Why is AI so important for contentbird?
Because it addresses the biggest time-sink in the content process: repeatedly explaining context. Once this context is properly stored (AI Knowledge, strategy, personalities) and enriched with external data sources via MCP, the AI can reliably combine it all with every new prompt – instead of starting from zero.
What happens to my data when I use the AI?
Is my content used to train the AI?
No. contentbird uses ChatGPT's (OpenAI) language model for the AI Assistant via an API connection. Your inputs and content do not flow into the model's training and are not made available to other customers or the general public.
