Overview
In contentbird, performance tracking does not start based on the entered publication date. Instead, it begins with the actual status change to “Published.”
Start of tracking
Tracking begins as soon as a content piece:
is set to the status “Published”
and all required fields are completed (URL, costs, date)
👉 From this point on, performance data is collected.
Important:
The manually entered publication date has no impact on when tracking starts.
When are the first data points visible?
Initial data is usually available by the day after next at the latest.
This includes:
page views
time on page
bounce rate
👉 Rankings are typically not yet available at this stage.
Special case: Imported content
If content is imported with the status “Published”:
performance data is loaded retroactively for up to 3 months
the reference point is the import date
👉 This allows immediate analysis of existing content.
Best practices
Set the status to “Published” only when the content is actually live
Double-check URL and tracking before publishing
Allow some time for the first data to appear
Use imports for existing content to access historical data
Conclusion
Performance tracking always starts with the actual publication status, not a date entry.
For new content, this means a short delay before data appears, while imported content can be analyzed immediately with historical performance data.
