If you would like to distribute the emails from the contentbird Convert formats via your own mail server, you have the option of storing this in the media settings. This is particularly useful if you already use a service such as Inxmail or Mailgun to send your own newsletters. These services specialize in processing high volumes of outgoing emails. Thanks to their reputation, these service providers also ensure that your own mail servers are not entered on the usual lists of known spammers.
Once you have made the necessary settings, emails for the double opt-in for the newsletter option and the notifications for the betting game are sent via this mail server.
Setting up your own outgoing mail server (SMTP)
Please select the medium under "Company > Media" for which you would like to define your own outgoing mail server.
Select the "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" action on the overview page of the medium. If this action is not available for you, please contact our support team.
By default, the SMTP configuration of contentbird Convert is used here and the outgoing emails for your formats are delivered via our servers or the servers of third parties commissioned by us:
Set the configuration to "custom" and enter the necessary parameters for the mail server you are using in the form that appears:
Testing the new configuration
If you submit the form by clicking "submit", the parameters entered will be used to send a test email to the email address stored in your user account. If you have already entered the sender information for the double opt-in messages, this information will be used. If this is not the case, a generic e-mail address of the form no-reply@<your-domain.com> is created from the domain name of your medium.
A new form will then open in which you must enter the verification code contained in the test email sent to you. Only then will the new configuration be transferred to your medium.
This procedure ensures that it is currently possible to send mail correctly with the specified parameters. You can repeat this test at any time by going to the SMTP configuration, pressing "save" and checking the e-mail in your mailbox.
Use of mail dispatch via contentbird Convert
If you would like to send the emails of the formats via our servers again, please change the configuration to "Standard contentbird GmbH".
