Introduction

With the duplicate function in contentbird, you can quickly copy existing content and use it as a foundation for new content. This saves time, ensures consistent structures, and is especially useful for recurring formats or translations.

Function Overview

Duplicating creates a copy of an existing content ticket. You can define which elements should be transferred and which settings should be adjusted.

You can find this function directly in the Content Pipeline for each content item. After clicking “Duplicate,” the familiar content creation form opens—already prefilled with information.

A key difference: the title of the duplicated content automatically includes the suffix “(Copy)” so you can clearly distinguish it from the original.

Usage and Setup

Duplicate content

  • Open the Content Pipeline

  • Select the desired content item

  • Click on “Duplicate”

  • Adjust the settings in the form that opens

When duplicating, you can also choose a different project. This is important because changing the project later is not possible for existing content.

What content is transferred?

By default, the following elements are copied:

  • The briefing

  • The last saved version of the content (visible in reference mode)

You can also configure additional options:

Select workflow
If workflows are defined in the project, you can assign one directly.

Transfer content into the editor
If enabled, the last saved version is inserted directly into the editor of the new content.

Include custom elements
This option copies values from custom fields (custom elements) into the duplicate.

Use for translations

The duplicate function is especially helpful when creating content in multiple languages. You can copy existing content and then adapt it linguistically without rebuilding the structure from scratch.

Duplicating social posts

The duplicate function is also available for social media posts.

When duplicating a social post, it is automatically saved as a draft so you can immediately continue editing.

Conclusion

With the duplicate function, you can efficiently reuse and adapt content in contentbird. Whether for similar content, new projects, or translations—you save time while maintaining consistent structure and quality.
